# Twitter gets second ever Premier League manager

As pointed out by alt-3 Sports, [thanks to the sacking of Martin Jol following Fulham’s 3-0 defeat to West Ham yesterday](http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/december/01/club-statement?ref=theonlinerule.com) Twitter now has its second ever user who’s also manager of a Premier League club.

Step forward [Rene Meulensteen](https://twitter.com/meulensteen%5Fr?ref=theonlinerule.com), who has taken control of Fulham with immediate effect. To date he’s only sent out 97 Tweets since his first post near the end of September, and seeing as he regularly promotes his own website we can assume that Twitter is being used primarily as a promotional tool, but on occasion he’s shown a bit of initiative and encouraged interaction via the [#askrene](https://twitter.com/search?q=%23AskRene&src=hash&ref=theonlinerule.com) hashtag.

His last Q&A session was at the beginning of November, with the Dutch coach becoming quiet around the time of his appointment to his coaching role at Fulham. Here’s hoping he’ll carry on posting to the account, and potentially provide some interesting and valuable insights into the life of a PL coach.

As [@LewisWiltshire](http://twitter.com/LewisWiltshire?ref=theonlinerule.com) points out, Twitter is primarily a communications channel – it’ll be interesting to see if Fulham intervene in this instance and Rene’s already sporadic updates start to disappear.

Meulensteen follows in the footsteps of [@kennethdalglish](https://twitter.com/kennethdalglish?ref=theonlinerule.com), a fellow Twitter user who found himself thrust into the top job after Roy Hodgson had been relieved of his duties. Let’s hope we hear more from Rene than we did from Kenny – 24 Tweets in 18 months as manager.

To make matters worse for Fulham, the BBC did their best yesterday to make the defeat seem a bit heavier than it was originally…
